Ukraine's past and present
origin
According to archaeological data, there are ancient human sites from the Paleolithic and Neolithic periods in Ukraine.
Ukraine was historically the core of Kievan Rus', founded by the Vikings in the 9th century AD, and was one of the earliest regions of modern Russian capitalism. Around the 10th century, the tribes of the Eastern Slavs united in present-day Ukraine to form the tribes of Ancient Rus' and established the state of Kievan Rus'.
modern history
From the 14th century onwards, the Ukrainians began to break away from the ancient Kievan Rus' region and form a single ethnic group with a unique language, culture and living customs.
After the unification of Russia in the 15th century, Russian peasants, fed up with oppression, fled to this zone, forming the Ukrainian Cossacks. Ukraine is a geographical name that was officially proposed in 1569 after the annexation of the area from Podoria to Zaporido in the southwest of Rus' to the Kingdom of Poland.
Soviet period
During World War I, the February Revolution of 1917 overthrew the Russian Empire, and the Ukrainian People's Republic became independent with the support of the German Empire's offensive. < br / > After the surrender of Germany, Soviet Russia recovered Ukraine, and Soviet power was established in the eastern Ukrainian region, and the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic was formed.
During World War II, Poland was divided and occupied by Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union, and Western Ukraine was merged with the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic.
